National Tourism Year – Hue Festival 2025 Launching Program

The opening ceremony of the National Tourism Year Hue 2025, themed “A River’s Confession,” is scheduled for the evening of March 25th. A semi-real stage will be erected on the banks and waters of the Perfume River (Sông Hương).

The artistic program at the opening night of the National Tourism Year Hue 2025, with the theme “A River’s Confession,” tells the story of the river and its connection to cultural heritage sites, with the Perfume River as the main highlight. From the Perfume River, it expands to other famous rivers along the length of Vietnam. Cultural heritage and culinary essence of Hue will also be showcased through artistic performances and sound and light displays. The Organizing Committee has also invited units from South Korea and China to perform at the opening night.

Ms. Tran Thi Hoai Tram, Director of the Hue City Department of Tourism, stated: “We have sent official letters to Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet to increase flights during major events in Hue. We are also reviewing the homestay and guesthouse system, which can register to welcome guests in the near future, to meet the accommodation needs of tourists during major events. We anticipate an explosion in the number of visitors to Hue this year, avoiding overcapacity in accommodation.”

The National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025 are cultural, economic, and tourism events of national and international scale, linked to the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Hue City (March 26, 1975 – March 26, 2025) and other significant national events. The opening program will feature high-altitude fireworks and modern technology with a water music system to create a novel effect for viewers. Following the opening program will be a series of attractive cultural, sports, and tourism activities, organized in succession.

Ms. Le Thi Them, Head of the Culture and Information Department of A Luoi district, Hue city, said: “In response to the National Tourism Year Hue 2025, A Luoi district is organizing the “Sắc xuân vùng cao A Lưới” (Highland Spring Colors of A Luoi) festival from March 28th to March 29th. With the events of the highland spring colors program, many contents will be organized, especially festival activities, highland A Luoi culinary competitions, cultural and sports activities, folk games, and activities related to exhibitions and displays about the culture and people of A Luoi. These are opportunities for A Luoi to promote and introduce its culture and destinations.”

Tourists visit the Hue Citadel

National Tourism Year 2025, themed “Hue – Ancient Capital, New Opportunities,” is linked to Hue Festival 2025 and is expected to feature more than 160 activities. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and central agencies will organize 8 activities; Hue City will organize 62 activities; and provinces and cities across the country will organize 102 responding activities.

Through the National Tourism Year, Hue expects to unlock resources and leverage existing advantages to create a breakthrough in tourism development, attract a large number of domestic and international tourists, and contribute to promoting the local economic and social growth. Hue Festival 2025 is also an important bridge, strengthening tourism links between localities across the country, especially the key economic region of Central Vietnam. This event will contribute to enhancing the position and brand of Vietnamese tourism and affirming Hue as an attractive destination on the regional and world tourism map.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Standing Vice Chairman of Hue City, said: “The National Tourism Year is a highlight for the tourism industry of Hue City to accelerate and break through. The city identifies tourism and services as a key economic sector of the locality, especially focusing on promotion, publicity, and creating conditions for tourism to develop in a methodical way.”
