The pottery craft is intimately linked with Vietnam’s thousands of years of history. Vietnamese ceramics not only clearly reflect the progress of social development but also mirror the aesthetic thinking and spiritual life of Vietnamese people throughout historical periods. With artistic and cultural value deeply imprinted by history, ancient ceramic artifacts preserved to this day are an extremely precious cultural heritage of our nation.

The “Journey of Vietnamese Ceramics” exhibition is one of the prominent activities within the Summer Festival themed “Shining Imperial City,” part of the Hue Festival 2025 framework, hosted by the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre.

Location: Kien Trung Palace, Imperial Citadel, Hue
The exhibition aims to introduce the public to typical ceramic artifacts spanning historical periods from the Ly – Tran, Le – Tay Son, to the Nguyen dynasties. In addition, the program will also select unique contemporary products from artisans coming from famous traditional pottery villages.
The exhibition content focuses on the main periods:
– Prehistoric period
– Post-Common Era – 10th century
– Under the Ly – Tran dynasties (11th – 14th centuries)
– Under the Le So – Mac dynasties (15th – 17th centuries)
– 17th – 18th centuries
– Nguyen dynasty (early 19th century – mid-20th century)
– Current period
The exhibition is an opportunity for craft villages, museums, antique collectors, and artisans to together promote traditional cultural values through the unique beauty of Vietnamese ceramics, while connecting the past and present, spreading the spirit of creativity and national identity to the community and visitors.
The “Journey of Vietnamese Ceramics” exhibition will take place from April 26, 2025, to July 26, 2025, at Kien Trung Palace, Imperial Citadel, Hue. This promises to be a distinctive cultural destination during the Hue Festival 2025 season, contributing to honoring the traditional Vietnamese pottery craft within the heritage space of the ancient capital.
